| Artist Statement My current body of work, Between the Tides, is inspired by nature: there is an elegance and an engaging juxtaposition between the simplicity and complexity found in life-forms under the water. Tidal shifts give people a glimpse into this unique world. These works offer the viewer my interpretation of that world. I paint these images concurrently over a period of days or weeks, adding layers as I work. Some images are inspired by photographs, others by observing nature, and others sheerly from imagination. I invite the viewer to contemplate the impermanence and splendor of existence. Wonder that one may not exist without the other. |
